To many, Mekong Delta is a great ecosystem where people and the nature exist in conjunction and blend into a unified identity. Take a trip to Vietnam’s breadbasket, stay with the hospitable host and explore the intricate connection of the delta’s residents’ daily life with the tides and ebbs of the magnanimous river.

Detailed program
(From Ho Chi Minh City) Depart for Mekong Delta, which is located at the mouth of Mekong River as it empties into the sea in the territory of Vietnam. The main mode of transports of this region is by boat and instead of staying in a hotel, you will lodge with a local family for a night in their house.

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta

Dedicate a day to explore the local life in the amphibious landscape of Mekong Delta.

Arrive in Ben Tre, a small city located by the northern arm of Mekong River:

  • Take a boat trip along the rivers and several arroyos to have a look at the daily life of the delta. Ben Tre is well-known as the Land of Coconuts and its landscape composed of countless arroyos.
  • Have a walk or take a motorized cyclo through the green islands during which you could see plantations of coconuts, vast rice paddies and visit a coconut workshop where coconut confectionery and handicrafts are produced.
  • Have a lunch loaded with local delicacies at a restaurant in the middle of the nature.

In the afternoon, transfer to Vinh Long then to An Binh Island which is located in the middle of the River.
Stay at Mrs. Thuy’s, a guest house with a backdrop of a quiet garden. The rest of the afternoon is at your liberty to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside.
In the evening, participate in the preparation of your dinner with the assistance of your host.

Overnight at homestay on An Binh Island.

Day 2: Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh

Wake up early, say farewell to the host and transfer to Can Tho, the capital of the delta. Can Tho is a first-grade city of Vietnam, located on the right bank of the southern arm of Mekong River.
On arrival, board a boat that takes you to the location of Cai Rang floating market. Immerse in the hustle and bustle of the river trade where people transport and trade local produces like fruits, vegetables and other types of commodities boat to boat.
Leave the boat for a visit to An Binh Market where you could make an interesting comparison between the floating market and the land market.
In the afternoon, return to Ho Chi Minh City. Stop en route to visit the Cao Dai Temple, a local religion mixing together indigenous, Eastern and Western beliefs.

Overnight at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
